Privacy Policy – API Sentinel Pro

1. Introduction

API Sentinel Pro (“the Extension”) is a browser-based developer tool designed to monitor and analyze API/network activity directly within the user’s browser. This Privacy Policy describes how the Extension handles, stores, and processes data. By installing or using the Extension, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

2. Data Collection

The Extension does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal data. All API activity, logs, errors, and network information remain entirely on your device and are never sent to any external server controlled by the developer. The Extension operates locally within the browser.

3. What Data Is Handled Locally

3.1 Network Request Metadata

To display API behavior, the Extension reads request URL, method, status code, timing information, and error type (network, CORS, timeout, etc.). This information is processed in-memory and is never transmitted externally.

3.2 Stored Preferences

User settings such as log retention, slow-call thresholds, theme preference, and timestamp format are stored via chrome.storage.local. These values never leave your browser.

4. AI Integration (Ask AI Feature)

API Sentinel Pro allows users to send specific API error details manually to third-party Large Language Models (LLMs) such as OpenAI ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, Mistral, or Grok.

The Extension does not automatically send any data to these systems.
Data is sent only when the user explicitly chooses to use the Ask AI feature.
Data is sent client-to-client (from your browser to the selected AI provider’s site), not through any server owned by the developer.
The Extension does not intercept or store conversation content.

Users are subject to the privacy policies of the selected AI provider.

5. Permissions Explanation

5.1 `webRequest` / `webRequestBlocking`

Used to observe network events in real time so that API calls and failures can be displayed. No data is uploaded or stored externally.

5.2 `tabs` / `activeTab`

Used only to identify the currently active page for correct filtering. Browsing history is not collected.

5.3 `downloads`

Used only when the user exports logs (HAR/CSV). Files are saved locally on your device.

5.4 `clipboardWrite`

Used only when the user explicitly copies content (e.g., AI prompts or cURL snippets) to the clipboard.

5.5 `storage`

Used to store user preferences locally in the browser.

6. Third-Party Services

The Extension does not use analytics, telemetry, tracking pixels, or any third-party logging services.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell, share, or transfer user data to any third party. All data remains within your browser unless you manually export it.

8. Data Retention

All logs are temporary and kept only in memory unless the user exports them. Clearing logs or closing the browser session removes them.

9. Children’s Privacy

API Sentinel Pro is intended for developers and is not designed for children under 13.

10. Updates to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
